Potential Cabinet Designs

We went and met with our cabinet guy last Friday, and discussed a few ideas for cabinets. He seems to be a solid family man who’s a pro at woodworking. So I think it’ll be an excellent fit. Plus, he made my in-law’s custom cabinets, and they were GORGEOUS.

We’ve also been scouring Pinterest for cabinet ideas (sound familiar?) for a couple of months, and here’s what we’ve come up with.

We want to do painted, maple, Shaker style cabinets with some flare in the kitchen.

We LOVE the colors, the style, the range hood, and the drawer pulls featured here:

We want lots of drawers on the bottom like the picture below. This also shows the wall ovens and cooktop that are closer to what we’ll be using. Sidebar: I wish we could afford one of those gorgeous Wolf ranges that’s pictured above, but that’s just not in our budget…

We want to shake things up and add some glass up top (but definitely not all glass, “Hello, Cheerio’s!”) like so:

Or maybe like this:

We love this island:

And since we’re working with 17.5″ foot vaulted ceilings we may want to go with staggered heights like this:

For countertops, we’re thinking Calacatta Quartz in Vintage:

For colors I know we want to use a white on the top, and a navy on the bottom and island.

I love the look of Benjamin Moore’s Hale Navy on cabinets:

And just look at these beauties painted Benjamin Moore’s Deep Royal:

I LOVE the contrast of the navy and white.

As far as the white is concerned, I really like the look of Benjamin Moore’s Simply White, but Benjamin Moore’s Decorator’s White matches the countertops better (I matched paint swatches to the Quartz sample). But that might not matter because the whites aren’t touching.

As far as bathroom cabinets are concerned I really like this style for the kid’s bathrooms.

Right now I’m loving these colors for my daughter’s bathroom cabinets:

1. Benjamin Moore’s Ocean Air

2. Benjamin Moore’s Palladian Blue (I realize these are laundry cabinets, but I really dig this color).

3. Benjamin Moore’s Stonington Gray (This chest is finished in it, and isn’t it lovely?)Also, I’m considering Stonington Gray as the main color for most walls in the house. I just really like this color, apparently…

For my son’s bathroom I’m thinking a nice darker green color for the cabinets. Here is my favorite:

Benjamin Moore’s Jack Pine Green

For the master bathroom I’m thinking the same style as the kid’s bath or kitchen sized to fit the space in this color:Benjamin Moore’s Wrought Iron.

I’ll probably go with Wrought Iron as the color for the laundry room cabinets as well.

You should be able to click the color links for color numbers and more photos from the Benjamin Moore website, or follow the picture links to their homes on Pinterest.

Assuming that I don’t change my mind, I think we’ve made most of the important cabinet decisions! Thanks for stopping by, and I’ll be sure to share posts of completed cabinets once they’re made and installed.
